THE lifeless body of a local woman was discovered floating in a river near a condominium on Jalan Ipoh on Thursday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Sentul District Police Chief ACP Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said police received a report of a floating body at 11:37 a.m. and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. “
Upon receiving the information, a team was sent to the location; however, the body is believed to have been carried downstream towards the Gombak River before police arrived,” he said.
Around midday, officers from the Chow Kit Police Station located the body in the river near Sunway Putra Mall, Jalan Putra. The body was subsequently taken to the Forensic Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital for an autopsy.
Preliminary investigations revealed the deceased was a 36-year-old unemployed woman who lived in the Chow Kit area. She had reportedly left her home on 17 December and had not returned until her body was discovered.
The police confirmed that the woman had no known health issues. “She is believed to have suffered from depression following the imprisonment of her boyfriend in a drug-related case,” ACP Ahmad Sukarno said.
The case has been classified as sudden death (SDR), and further investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. - December 20, 2025
