
More than 19,000 cases were disposed of during the National Lok Adalat held at the New District Courts Complex in Sector 43 in Chandigarh on Saturday.
A total of 10,595 pre-litigative cases involving amount of Rs 6,95,238 were disposed of by regular Benches and Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS), 17 labour dispute cases involving amount of over Rs 20 lakh by the Labour Court, 63 cases involving amount of Rs 5.46 crore by State & District Consumer Commissions, 26 cases involving Rs 9.71 crore by DRT-II, Chandigarh, and 2,102 mutations by Tehsildar (Revenue), UT.
Thirteen Benches headed by the serving judicial officers were constituted to settle criminal compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, arbitration matters, other civil cases, municipal matters and traffic challans.
Mohali solves over 19K cases
Mohali: As many as 19,169 cases out of 21,410 were disposed of through compromise and disbursement of awards amounting to Rs 283,21,34,432 during the National Lok Adalat held in SAS Nagar on Saturday.
Justice Atul Kasana, District and Sessions Judge, said, “A total of 21,410 pre-litigative and pending criminal compoundable offences, NI Act cases under Section-138, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters relating to pay and allowances and retirement benefits, revenue cases and other civil cases, including rent, easementary rights, injunction suits and specific performance suits were taken up the 16 Benches set up for the Lok Adalat.”
2K cases disposed of in P’kula
Panchkula: A total of 23,485 cases were taken up during the National Lok Adalat in Panchkula on Saturday, out of which 2,048 cases were amicably settled and disposed of. A total settlement amount of Rs 74,10,672 was awarded in different matters.
Special focus was also laid upon disposal of traffic challans and online traffic challans. A total of 1,395 traffic challans, including online traffic challans, impounded vehicle challans and drunken driving challans were disposed of by the courts of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Arunima Chauhan, JMIC Abhidha Gupta and Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Vinod Kumar.
Ajay Kumar Ghanghas, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Panchkula, said seven Benches were constituted for taking up and deciding different categories of cases.
13K resolved at Fatehgarh Sahib
Fatehgarh Sahib: As many as 10,274 cases were settled during the National Lok Adalat organised in Fatehgarh Sahib district on Saturday. A total of 13,342 cases were taken up by 11 Benches at the District Courts and Sub-Divisional Courts at Amloh and Khamano.
DLSA Secretary Ashok Kumar Chauhan said awards worth over Rs 5 crore were passed in financial and compensation-related matters.
In a long-standing matrimonial dispute, a separated couple agreed to reunite through mutual settlement.
