Long weekend; Heavy traffic reported heading to Melaka, PD

TAFFIC flow on the North-South Expressway was reported to be congested and slow at several major locations this evening, especially involving routes towards Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Port Dickson.

According to the Malaysian Highway Authority Traffic Management Centre, as of 2.35 pm, traffic flow was congested following the increase in vehicles in conjunction with the long weekend.

Among the critical routes identified were from Nilai to the Seremban Rest and Treatment (R&R) area, followed by congestion from Bandar Ainsdale to Senawang and the Senawang R&R towards Pedas Linggi.

In addition, routes on the Seremban-Port Dickson Expressway also saw traffic moving slowly from Lukut to the Sua Betong Intersection, towards the coastal resort area.

At the same time, the northbound North-South Expressway was reported to be congested at several locations involving the route from Sungai Buaya to Bukit Tagar, Slim River to Sungkai, Bidor to Tapah and around the Gopeng junction to Alor Pongsu to Jawi.

In the capital, the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) witnessed heavy traffic flow eastbound from Greenwood to Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) towards the Gombak Toll.

The congestion continued up to the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, from the Gombak Toll Plaza to Bukit Tinggi due to the increase in vehicles heading towards the East Coast. – May 1, 2026
