Kota Kinabalu: Sabah MIC Chairman Peer Mohamad bin Kadir said the nation and Indian community lost an exemplary leader with the passing of former party president Tun Dr Sammy Vellu.
He said Samy contributed immensely to the country, including Sabah. Samy died on Thursday at age 86. He served as works minister from 1983 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 2008.
Peer urged the Indian community in Sabah to pray for eternal rest for Sammy.
