Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Cultural Board and a few non-Muslim associations on Sunday organised the fourth Love Malaysia Prayer session themed “Civil Malaysia: The Determination of Unity Fulfils Hope.”

The group prayer at the Gurdwara Sikh Temple was for peace and prosperity in the country.

It was attended by some 100 individuals, including members of the Sabah Christian Bumiputera, Sabah Chinese Coalition, Malaysian Hindu Sangam and Kinabalu Singh Sabha associations.

Officiating the event, Kinabalu Singh Sabha President Ram Singh said the associations represented a large number of non-Muslims in Malaysia.

“In fact, this programme is very appropriate in our efforts to lift each other up and in spreading moral and spiritual support among various religious backgrounds,” he said.

Representing the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, its Permanent Secretary I, Isidore Malangking, believed such programmes would lead the country into becoming more open to religious diversity.

“We (Malaysians) are like a family. Even though we have different faiths or beliefs, we remain steadfast together in praying for the wellbeing of the country,” she said.
