Loving grandad was killed in random knife attack by man released on police bail

  • Rasheed Rahman has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years and 59 days for the random murder of 55-year-old Mark Carroll in Camden.
  • The teenager stabbed Mr Carroll in the back with a kitchen knife during an unprovoked attack in St Martin’s Gardens on 10 April 2024.
  • Rahman was free to commit the murder despite being released on police bail twice shortly before and carrying out another non-fatal stabbing two months earlier.
  • The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into its previous contacts with Rahman to determine if the murder could have been prevented.
  • Describing the assault as a shocking and cowardly attack on an innocent public member, Judge Dodd highlighted that Rahman remains a very dangerous individual.
