Lower electricity tariffs for commercial users from July 1

COMMERCIAL users will enjoy lower electricity tariffs from July 1, the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry announced today.

Rates for domestic users will remain unchanged.

The ministry said water and sewage operators, as well as selected agriculture and low-voltage, non-domestic users, will enjoy a reduced rate from 3.7 sen/kWh to 2.7 sen/kWh.

The tariff rate for streetlights under local councils will be reduced from 10 sen/kWh to 9 sen/kWh.

"Other commercial users will see a decrease in their rate to 16 sen/kWh from the previous 17 sen/kWh.

"About 34,000 users are expected to benefit from this reduced tariff rate," said the ministry.

The new tariffs will be in effect until December 31, when they will be reviewed.

Domestic consumers with a monthly electricity consumption of up to 1,500kWh will continue to enjoy surcharge-free rates.

The surcharge will be maintained at 10 sen/kWh for domestic consumers with a monthly consumption exceeding 1,500kWh. – June 29, 2024.
