MANILA, Philippines – The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has been forecast to develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours, the national weather bureau said on Monday.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, however, that the weather disturbance has a slim chance to enter PAR.
“It would also be unlikely to affect the country's weather directly, but its trough or extension was already bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, Sorsogon, and Masbate,” Aurelio said during a 5 a.m. briefing.
The northeast monsoon or 'amihan' is expected to prevail over the next three days. Today, it is affecting Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of the Bicol Region, bringing overcast skies and rain.
Moreover, the same weather system is affecting the Cordillera Administrative Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, where cloudy skies with light rain are likely, according to its latest advisory.
Pagasa said amihan would also be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would prevail.
