THE Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) wants to complete the acquisition and delivery of right-of-way (ROW) access for the final segments of the LRT Line-1 Cavite Extension by late this year or early 2027.

“In package 3, we [have acquired] 100-percent RoW. Unfortunately, in package 2, in the Las Piñas Station, we were delayed because of the flyover,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said in a statement.

For package 2, the agency has secured less than 70 percent of the required ROW.

The LRT 1 Cavite Extension package 2 involves the construction of the Las Piñas and Zapote stations, while package 3 will complete the line at its final destination, Niog Station in Bacoor.

The LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 started operations in November 2024, extending the rail line through five new stations: Redemptorist-Aseana, MIA Road, PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat).

These additional stations are part of the 27 kilometers of the rail line’s alignment from its previous 20.7 kilometers with only 20 stations.

As a major public-private partnership (PPP) project, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension will enhance connectivity in southern Metro Manila, offering commuters a faster, more efficient alternative to road travel.

The extension will also decongest major thoroughfares by adding 80,000 daily passengers to the LRT-1’s current ridership of 400,000.
