The much-anticipated news for Kuala Lumpur’s LRT users is finally here.

Starting from 6 am on February 17, 2024, the LRT line between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations will be fully operational.

Commuters will once again enjoy a direct, hassle-free journey without the need for interim bus services.

This restoration follows a successful trial period that allowed passengers from Ampang and Putra Heights lines to travel directly to Masjid Jamek, bypassing the Hang Tuah interchange.

The trial operation, which kicked off on February 1, 2024, was the precursor to this full-scale launch. It marked the final stages of a rigorous repair process to the track infrastructure, which had been compromised due to structural damages near Bandaraya Station.

During the trial, Rapid KL maintained shuttle bus services to bridge the last leg between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations.

Netizens have taken to social media to express their relief and extend kudos to Rapid KL for not only meeting but exceeding expectations by concluding the year-long repair work ahead of schedule.

With the full resumption of the LRT service, these shuttle buses have become obsolete, allowing for a more direct and efficient commute.
