KUALA LUMPUR – Commuters are left frustrated again during their morning commute – a day after the Kelana Jaya LRT line was fully restored. This was caused by a train being removed at the Jelatek station.
Those affected immediately took to social media to complain that they had to exit the problematic train, among others, as lines grew longer at every station due to the disrupted arrival schedule.
A check found numerous complaints on operator Rapid Rail’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
A Twitter user known as @the_ndyhsn slammed the LRT service saying, “Morning already having issues, people want to get to work!”

While user @fizajayy labelled the train service a “joke”.
“LRT is such a joke today, we went through Gombak station and suddenly had to stop and get off the train due to it not being in service,
“Went on a new train to KLCC but the doors did not open, so we had to get off at Kg Baru. From Kg Baru we had to take another train back to KLCC.
“Boss, can I just go home?”
Lrt was such a joke today. Naik pegi gombak station tiba-tiba kena turun sebab “train not in service”. Naik new train sampai klcc, pintu tak bukak pulak so kena turun kg baru. Dari kg baru naik another one untuk patah balik klcc.

User @qolpityam also reached out to the rail operator, complaining that a train stopped at the KLCC station but its doors did not open.

The operator has since responded, saying that the train at the Jelatek station had to be stopped due to brake issues and then sent back to the depot for inspection.
As for the malfunctioning doors, Rapid Rail said it is working on the matter and apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Commuters also had to deal with some irregularities in bus schedules, with @hoihoong asking why bus kiosks are not functioning as users could not check for arrival times.

In reply, the operator said there are technical issues in the system therefore it is unable to check on bus locations and departure times.
Another user @AzwanHalim shared a photo of an LRT platform, asking if a 14-minute train interval was irregular, to which the operator said “it is normal”.
Just yesterday, the Kelana Jaya LRT line was reopened to commuters at about 6am with trains arriving at three-minute intervals during the morning rush hour.
Last Wednesday, Rapid Rail announced that 16 stations between Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park were to be shut down for a week due to purported technical issues, following two days of service disruption.
On the same day, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said the exact cause of the issue has yet to be pinpointed, and that the automated riding system crisis on the Kelana Jaya line could be the first of its kind in the world. – The Vibes, November 15, 2022
