LRT3 set to begin operations on June 29 after Sunday launch by PM Anwar: Loke

KUALA LUMPUR – The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) line connecting Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang is scheduled to commence operations next Monday (June 29), following its official launch ceremony set for Sunday.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the new service will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before opening to the public the following day, local media reported.

“The official opening ceremony will be held this Sunday, and operations will commence the following day,” he said at a press conference during the opening ceremony of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bandar Tasik Selatan branch office in Cheras on Monday.

“The official opening ceremony (of LRT3) will be held at the project depot. All media representatives will be officially invited to the ceremony.”

He said the implementation of LRT3 marks one of the long-anticipated major public transport projects, expected to provide wider convenience for residents along the western corridor of the Klang Valley.

Spanning 37.8km, the LRT3 runs from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Selangor, and is expected to benefit around two million residents.

Designed to improve connectivity across the western corridor of the Klang Valley, the line will serve key residential, commercial and industrial areas along its route. - June 22, 2026
