The LRT3 Shah Alam line is set to open on 29 June 2026, following an official launch ceremony by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim the day before. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook confirmed the timeline on 22 June. The LRT3 spans 37.8km between Bandar Utama and Johan Setia in Klang.
20 Stations In Three Major Urban Corridors
LRT3 serves 20 stations running through some of the most congested road corridors in the Klang Valley. The stops include Bandar Utama, Glenmarie 2, Stadium Shah Alam, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Bandar Baru Klang, Pasar Klang, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, and Johan Setia.
If you live or work along the PJ–Shah Alam–Klang stretch, this gives you a direct link into a location that has had limited public transit options beyond buses. The Bandar Utama interchange station connects to the Kelana Jaya LRT line, opening up transfers across the rail network without returning to KL Sentral.
A Faster Alternative to Federal Highway and KESAS Jams
The Shah Alam route has long been a pain point for drivers because taking the train was not a practical option. Congestion on the Federal Highway and KESAS during peak hours regularly stretches travel times well beyond 45 minutes for journeys that the train could cover in less time.
If you are currently driving between Subang, Shah Alam, or Klang, LRT3 adds a more direct entry point into the network. The practical benefit depends on how close you are to any of the 20 stations and whether parking is readily available.
LRT3 also affects housing decisions along this line. Areas near new stations tend to see increased interest from renters and buyers once a train link opens, which can push both rents and property prices upward over time. If you are already renting near a station, it may be worth tracking whether your landlord adjusts terms at the next renewal.
