Hibiki hosted an intimate masterclass at Kikyo

Luxurious, subtle and harmonious, Hibiki has grown to be amongst the most favoured Japanese whiskies throughout the years. At Kikyo, we had the pleasure of finding out why that’s the case — with an intimate masterclass hosted by Darwin Ng, Brand Ambassador for Malaysia for Suntory Global Spirits. The different facets of Hibiki Japanese Whisky took centre stage as we experienced the seductive whisky through its many components. Additionally, we were introduced to step into the world of Hibiki’s ‘The Harmony Within’ via three singular variations: The highball, on the rocks and lastly, Mizuwari with Soft Japanese Water. The tasting will be available at Kikyo until 31 December 2025!

On Hibiki Japanese Harmony, Darwin expressed: “Hibiki is a composition made to be experienced in moments. Each expression of Hibiki Japanese Harmony offers a different way to understand the blend: its brightness, its depth, and its balance. Harmony is found in how these flavours come together.”

Ngie Kok Kiong is the winner of Woodford Reserve’s The Wonderful Race 2025

The Wonderful Race 2025 in Malaysia returned for its third edition and this time, Frank’s Bar’s Ngie Kok Kiong was crowned the champion. The All-Star Champion of The Wonderful Race 2025 competed against nine other talented mixologists and took home the top prize with ‘The Spice That Remembered’,  a cocktail inspired by special ingredient, Gingerbread Cookies (prepared and chosen by Chef Isadora Chai). In fact, as part of the Chef Isadora Chai Challenge, the Top 5 finalists had to concoct an original Woodford Reserve cocktail pairing featuring the likes of Malaysian Figs, Belinjo Nut Crackers, Freshly Shucked Oysters, Smoked Trout and of course, the winning Gingerbread Cookies.

The judges of The Wonderful Race 2025 comprised Brown Forman’s Regional Advocacy Manager, Evgeny Yashkovich, The Cocktail Club’s Kiki Moka, and Scott Lee of Noble. As the winner, Ngie will next be heading to Kentucky, the home of the Woodford Reserve Distillery. Additionally, he will also be representing Malaysia at The Woodford Reserve Wonderful Race Asia Final competition next year.
