For over 200 years, the Orkney-based Highland Park has produced single malt whisky with a unique sweet-smoky flavour shaped by its environment. And among them is of course, the 12 Year Old expression — one of the distillery’s core releases. The Highland Park 12 Year Old, available in Malaysia, is beloved for its convergence of peated spiciness. The golden amber whisky has dried fruits and citrus zest notes on the nose whereas each sip progresses to hints of gentle oak and vanilla on the palate.

The Highland Park 12 Year Old is described as a balanced and versatile whisky — allowing the spirit to be enjoyed neat and on the rocks as well as with food such as dark chocolate and roasted meats. A lot of that profile can be credited to Highland Park’s house style which involves the processes of cask harmonisation and multi-cask maturation. This makes it ideal for both beginners to whisky and whisky connoisseurs.

And just a little fun fact: World Whisky Day falls on 16 May this year!

New cocktails at Renaissance KL and Four Points by Sheraton KLCC

When Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre and Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur City Centre first opened, they became Malaysia’s first-ever dual-branded property by Marriott Bonvoy. This year, both hotels are shining a spotlight on their mixologists — Ajit Narindar and Baim Shahanur R Bar as well as Sichuan Kitchen’s Alvin Mak. At R Bar, Ajit Narindar has created ‘The Renewed Ritual’, a creation featuring pandan, calamansi citrus, pineapple, oxidised wine and fresh local guavas.

Also at R Bar is Baim Shahanur’s ‘Asam Bangkit’; a tequila-based concoction made alongside citrus foam, cold brew coffee and honey tamarind shrub. As for Alvin Mak’s drink, ‘Tropic Heat Fizz’, the zero-waste drink comprises the complete use of homegrown papayas. The cocktails are available for RM40 nett per drink until 17 May 2026.
