LTFRB hastens permit processing for ‘Undas’

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said it is expediting the processing of special permit applications for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

”We are reviewing all the data we have to determine the appropriate number of passenger buses that will be granted special permits. The goal has always been to have a sufficient number of buses, as a huge number of our fellowmen go to their home provinces to honor their departed loved ones,” said acting LTFRB Chairman Greg Pua Jr., noting the agency has received 356 applications covering 1,003 units from various parts of the country.

The figure, he said, was higher compared to 323 applications covering 847 units in 2025.

As part of the approval process, transport operators are required to ensure the mental and physical readiness of their drivers. The LTFRB said operators can also be penalized for reckless driving by their drivers.

Pua said he ordered the inspection of bus terminals for safety and health compliance, noting that last year, a number of transport firms were penalized for violations.

He added that the initiative is in line with the instruction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure fast, safe and comfortable travel for Filipinos across the country.
