MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has imposed a two-year revocation of the driver's license of actor Niño Muhlach following his involvement in an accident along Marcos Highway on Aug. 23.
Based on the investigation and hearing conducted regarding the incident, it was found that the actor experienced severe fatigue before losing control of the vehicle he was driving, resulting in a collision with three establishments, LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao said.
Lacanilao said reckless driving and improper operation of a motor vehicle were the basis for the two-year revocation of Muhlach's driver's license.
The actor’s vehicle, he added, would remain under alarm status while the resolution is in effect.
"The LTO is serious about enforcing traffic laws, especially violations that may endanger other road users. We will implement the appropriate penalties based on the results of the investigation and hearing, regardless of the status of those involved," Lacanilao said.
Meanwhile, Lacanilao said the LTO has recommended the permanent revocation of the driver’s license of businessman Anthony Jude Violago for using an unauthorized plate that bore his initials (AJV 0918). The Porsche 918 Spyder supercar Violago was driving was registered under the name of actor Derek Ramsay. The vehicle is now under the custody of the Bureau of Customs. Lacanilao said the car would remain impounded while being investigated for alleged misdeclaration. The car was valued at around P48 million but was misdeclared in 2021 as a Porsche Boxster valued at only P3.26 million.
