Lucky escape for Lawas family after durian tree falls on house

MIRI – A family of four cheated death when a durian tree fell onto the roof of the kitchen at their house at Kg Long Sebatu, Lawas yesterday.

The family members, who were resting at home, managed to escape unhurt.

Lawas Fire and Rescue station chief Azman Ibrahim said it received a call from the family to remove the tree at 6.53pm.

“A team of Fire Department personnel was rushed to the scene located some 36km from the fire station.”

Upon arrival at the scene, Azman said the department personnel cut the durian tree into smaller pieces using a chainsaw and cleared the debris.

After ensuring the situation was safe, the department personnel ended the operation at 8.42pm. – Borneo Post Online, November 30, 2022
