
The Himachal police on Wednesday arrested Ludhiana youth Bunty (26) from Rajpura in Patiala district of Punjab for supplying heroin to a Kandaghat youth. The police traced him while investigating the backward linkages of an earlier drug trafficking case of Kandaghat. The police had recovered 18.16 grams of heroin from from Naresh Kumar’s possession, alias Nishu (40), a resident of Sirinagar village in Kandaghat, on the intervening night of April 27 and 28, and registered a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
While investigating the case, the police examined his bank accounts and scrutinised other technical evidence and found that he had purchased the seized contraband for Rs 32,000. The payment was made through a QR code. On the basis of this evidence, the second accused in the case was identified as Bunty (26), a resident of Ludhiana, who was arrested from Rajpura, said SP, Solan, Sai Dattatreya Varma.
During the course of the investigation, the police also established that Nishu was an active heroin smuggler and had been supplying the contraband to youths and students in Kandaghat and Wakanaghat areas since long. Four cases of heroin trafficking had been registered against him in the past and 20.71 grams of heroin had been recovered from his possession. Besides, one case of assault was also registered against him. Besides, the accused had also been placed in preventive custody. The police were investigating Bunty’s criminal record.
