Luton Town players were left frustrated after being denied a famous win against Liverpool in injury-time.

Tahith Chong had Luton 1-0 ahead on 80 minutes and the hosts entered stoppage time still with the lead.

But substitute Luis Diaz leapt highest to head home a Harvey Elliott cross to score on 95 minutes.

Chong later said: "When you score that late you are thinking of winning the game but you know they have quality and will keep coming and coming. I am very proud of the team and proud to score.

"We have grown every single game. We are still learning and want to improve. We will take this as a plus and we want to keep getting better and better and next time maybe we will get the three points.

"We want to create an atmosphere here that makes it very difficult for every team that comes here."

Teammate Chiedozie Ogbene also said: "I was praying for a VAR check [for the late equaliser] but it was a clean goal. You can't fault the effort tonight. We are going in slightly disappointed we didn't get a win against a very good Liverpool team and that is how far we have come.

"If you can't win, don't lose and that is what we did today. It is all about momentum. We are trying to create an atmosphere here. The manager said before to believe in the game plan and be patient. In this league you just have to take your moments."
