Kota Kinabalu: Luyang Assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe hopes the police will double their efforts to combat the surging number of burglaries in Luyang.
“I genuinely hope the police can quickly and seriously look into the true causes of the problem to address the escalating security situation,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
The DAP Sabah Secretary believes that a group of organised criminals is responsible for those premeditated burglaries.
He said the people are alarmed and anxious about the worsening security because the victims were in similar situations and these crimes appeared to be well thought out and planned.
“Due to the rise in criminal activities in Luyang, the authorities must patrol often.
“I hope the authorities are able to resolve the issue before the broken windows theory comes true in Luyang,” he said.
He noted that over the last two days, burglaries happened near Taman Jindo and KK High School.
“My special assistant went to the site and was informed by residents of their losses. Luyang Police Station Chief Sub-Inspector Mohd Rashidi Nawawi was also present at site.
“I am very concerned over the worsening situation. I hope that the issue will be addressed in time before things get out of control.
“I sincerely request Kota Kinabalu police to double the efforts in tackling this severe issue and arrest the criminals as soon as possible,” he said.
