M-cyclist, pillion rider killed in mishap

SEMPORNA: A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed when it crashed into the rear of Toyota Hilux at Jalan Tampi-Tampi, Simpang Lauhari, here, Thursday.

It was learnt that the motorcyclist in his 20s and his 16-year-old pillion rider succumbed to injuries at the scene following the 5.30pm accident.

District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said, the incident occurred when the motorcycle crashed into the Toyota Hilux while the vehicle was making a U-turn.

“The Hilux driver was detained to assist in investigation under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

He also reminds road users to always be cautious, especially in the accident-prone areas.

Mohd Farhan also advised parents to watch their kids while riding and ensure they were wearing helmets.
