KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian police have arrested and extradited two Taiwanese nationals wanted in their home country over a shooting incident.
In a statement today, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said both men were arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on April 20 when they flew into the country from Taiwan and were subsequently handed back to Taiwanese officials yesterday for extradition.
“Both suspects are wanted by Taiwanese police as they are believed to have been involved in a shooting incident in Taiwan, as well as members of the local triad and a scam syndicate.
“They were arrested following an arrest warrant issued by Taiwan authorities as well as their passports being revoked by the Taiwan government.”
Acryl Sani said the arrests were made under the Immigration Act 1959/63, in close cooperation with Taiwanese officials.
The nation’s top cop also assured the police force’s commitment to preventing the country from becoming a transit nation for criminals avoiding justice. – The Vibes, April 29, 2023
