According to Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Malaysia’s oldest zoo, the Johor Zoo, will officially reopen to the public on August 31 after three years of closure.
He added that Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim would officiate the zoo’s reopening on Aug 28, three days before its official opening.
“There is also a new ticket price for Johor Zoo. The state government has approved the new price for locals, which is RM10 for adults, while for children, it is RM5.”
“However, for foreigners, the ticket price is set at RM30,” he said after visiting the Johor Zoo, along Jalan Gertak Merah.
The ticket price previously to enter Johor Zoo was set at RM2 for adults and RM1 for children.
Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz added that the state government will offer a 50% discount on the ticket fee for locals to mark the zoo’s reopening.
“The discount is for a month. This means that starting on August 31, there will be a discounted price for locals to bring their families to the Johor Zoo.”
“I am very pleased with the upgrading works done at Johor Zoo,” he said, adding that the zoo has more than 275 animals, including tigers, elephants, and many more.
Johor Zoo was first opened in 1928 and is the oldest zoo in the country.
