M’sia tops medical tourism rankings!

It’s an honour to announce that Malaysia has claimed the top spot as the world’s #1 destination for medical tourism. According to Nomad Capitalist, the country stands out for offering competitive prices while maintaining healthcare facilities and services that are on par with its regional counterparts.

Coming in 2nd is Singapore, which (despite its high costs) is recognised for having one of the most advanced hospital systems in the world. Thailand takes 3rd place, known for its booming medical tourism industry, which continues to grow by over 20% each year.

Rounding out the top 10 are India (4th), Türkiye (5th), the Czech Republic (6th), Costa Rica (7th), Panama (8th), Mexico (9th), and Brazil (10th).

Healthcare costs in M’sia are more affordable

Nomad Capitalist highlighted that Malaysia has developed medical facilities that rival those in Singapore, but at a fraction of the cost. The country has also established dedicated agencies to attract hundreds of thousands of medical tourists each year.

As healthcare costs in Singapore continue to rise, Kuala Lumpur is quickly emerging as a more affordable alternative, without compromising on quality.

Like many Asian countries, Malaysia began focusing on medical tourism as a way to diversify its economy during the Asian financial crisis. Today, Malaysian hospitals offer treatments such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) at roughly one-fifth the cost of Western clinics.
