A Malaysian netizens took to Threads to share the two BMWs parked at designated EV charging lots.

AS of Nov 31 last year, the Energy Commission (ST) of Malaysia has announced that it has issued licences for 5,360 public EV chargers inclusive of 3,569 AC chargers and 1,791 DC fast chargers.

However until today, there are some Malaysians who still do not seem to understand purpose of charging stations and opt to parking at the charging bays.

A Malaysian netizen has sparked heated discussion online after calling out two BMW vehicles — a BMW 2 Series and a BMW X5 — for occupying EV charging bays despite not being electric vehicles.

@keshydhillon took to Threads to share the two BMWs parked at designated EV charging lots, effectively blocking access for electric vehicle owners who actually needed to charge their cars.

“We can have 500,000 EV chargers all around the country, but as long as idiots like this keep insisting on parking in lots meant for charging, EV adoption will always be difficult.”

Another Threads user, @tracylaism, urged authorities to take stricter action against such behaviour, suggesting financial penalties as a deterrent.

“Should fine them according to the min and hour they park their non EV cars there.”
