M’sian Celebrity Preacher Suggests People Should No Longer Be Allowed To Keep Dogs
A Malaysian celebrity preacher has shared his opinion that members of the public should no longer be allowed to keep dogs.

He expressed his views in a post on Threads, where he cited religious guidance and public safety concerns as reasons behind his suggestion.

Keeping dogs is strictly limited in his religion

According to the preacher, keeping dogs is subject to strict limitations under the school of Islamic jurisprudence he follows.

He added that people living in cities generally do not need dogs for practical purposes such as guarding farms.

If it is not too much to ask, members of the public in Malaysia should no longer be allowed to keep dogs.

“This is also in line with religious guidance. Our school of Islamic jurisprudence places very strict limits on keeping dogs, and those living in cities generally do not need them for purposes such as guarding farms,” he wrote.

Raised concerns over dog attacks

The preacher also pointed to incidents involving people being bitten by dogs, including students who encountered the animals while travelling to school.

He described such incidents as heartbreaking, noting that some victims had reportedly come close to losing their lives.

“It is heartbreaking to see people being bitten by dogs while on their way to school, with some nearly losing their lives,” he said.

Uncomfortable with pet dogs and strays

He went on to say that he personally feels uncomfortable around dogs, regardless of whether they are pets or strays. This also included dogs kept at the homes of his non-Muslim neighbours.

The preacher ended his post by acknowledging that others might disagree with his stance.

“I apologise if you disagree. This is merely my personal opinion,” he said.
