In line with the MADANI Government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the people and ensuring the continuity of public services, the work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants will continue to be implemented flexibly, especially during the 2025 ASEAN Summit happening on May 26 and May 27 at KLCC.

For those of you who don’t know, the ASEAN Summit is the highest-level meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), bringing together the heads of state or government from its 10 member countries to discuss regional cooperation, economic integration, and political-security issues.

WFH implementation is subject to current rules and regulations

In their statement, the Public Service Department (JPA) announced that the implementation of WFH is still subject to current rules and regulations.

“In line with this approach, Heads of Departments are given the authority to consider WFH applications from officers who may be affected by traffic congestion during the ASEAN Summit, which is scheduled to take place in May this year,” they wrote.

They also said this move is part of the MADANI Government’s effort to focus on a more caring and people-first way of doing things, staying true to their values such as well-being, compassion, and efficient public service delivery.

The policy must be implemented in accordance with MyPPSM

JPA added that eligible civil servants are encouraged to consult their respective Heads of Departments for proper consideration.

It also stated that the policy must be implemented in accordance with the procedures and conditions outlined in the Human Resource Service Circular (MyPPSM).

The WFH policy is provided under MyPPSM, Section SR.4.1.2, with the aim of creating a balance between agency needs in ensuring work continuity and the well-being and work-life harmony of officers.
