Calling a hospital to change an appointment sounds simple enough. But according to one account shared on Threads, a doctor ended up making the trip himself after repeated calls went unanswered.
When he arrived, he allegedly saw nurses chatting at the counter while the phone rang.
Nearly 10 calls went unanswered
According to the post, a consultant specialist wanted to reschedule his mother’s appointment at the specialist outpatient department of another hospital.

However, after calling nearly 10 times without getting an answer, he decided to head there in person.
The individual sharing the story said the specialist had previously recounted the experience to them.
Called again from the waiting area
Upon arriving, the doctor reportedly sat in the waiting area and dialled the hospital’s number again to see what would happen.
According to the account, he could hear the phone ringing at the counter, but the nurses there allegedly continued chatting without answering it.
He tried once more, only to observe the same response.

The doctor then reportedly got up and confronted the nurses over the unanswered calls.
His frustration went beyond the inconvenience he had experienced. According to the post, he questioned how difficult it must be for ordinary members of the public to get assistance if even he was struggling.
Post draws criticism over unanswered calls
The account prompted frustrated reactions from netizens, who questioned why calls were allegedly being ignored while staff were at the counter.
One commenter felt calls should be picked up within three rings, while another questioned how those nearby could seemingly tune out the ringing.
Others highlighted how unanswered calls could make things harder for patients and family members trying to contact a hospital for help.
