A 25-year-old Malaysian man has stirred discussion on Facebook after claiming that driving for e-hailing services can bring in a net income of RM6,000 to RM9,000 per month.

Posting in the group grab&Mycar司机乘客中文交流区, the man shared that he primarily drives a Honda Civic that has clocked over 300,000km. Yet, aside from regular maintenance, his vehicle rarely needed major repairs.

14 hours a day behind the wheel

He also added that he didn’t agree with some older drivers who say repair costs are high or the income is unstable.

While acknowledging the impressive figures, the OP admitted it comes at a cost — a daily grind of up to 14 hours on the road. Still, he prefers the flexibility over working for a boss.

I’m happy every day. I can chat with passengers and enjoy the freedom of choosing when to start and finish work.”

The driver stressed that while the job offers independence, it requires financial discipline and a focus on health.

“Life is short. Freedom is the most important thing. Driving lets me enjoy the scenery. To me, freedom is everything.”

‘Earning RM7K–RM8K a month is normal. Driving an Axia and paying for repairs isn’t any cheaper than driving a Nissan.’

‘Fourteen hours of ‘freedom’? Working only eight hours already feels tiring. After work, I can slowly enjoy the scenery.’
