Factory engineer pleaded guilty to separate child pornography charges

Under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, possessing pornographic materials carries a maximum prison sentence of three years, a fine, or both, upon conviction, as reported by Berita Harian.

Meanwhile, possessing child pornography is an offence under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, upon conviction.

Magistrate Uthman Abd Ghani handed down the RM7,000 fine after considering the facts of the case, the defence’s plea for leniency and the prosecution’s arguments. The court also ordered Liow to serve 10 months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.

Police say accused recently became addicted to porn

Meanwhile, China Press reported that police investigations found the accused had recently become addicted to viewing pornographic photos and videos, particularly images of women’s breasts.

According to the charge sheet, police raided his workplace during the incident and found a large number of pornographic photos and videos on his mobile phone.

Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah has fixed 12 November for sentencing on the two charges at the Sessions Court, after Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Qaiyyum Ramlan requested a postponement to allow several exhibits to be submitted to complete the facts of the case.
