During Ramadan season, many Malaysian Muslims spend their afternoons hurrying their work along to rush home and make it back in time to break fast with their loved ones. A spiritual and bonding time indeed, have people often wondered what it is like for those who actively fast during this period of time, but don’t get the chance to clock out in the evening to have dinner with their families?

Such an instance was clear when one firefighter named Mohd Ridzwan Shah shared a clip to his TikTok page @wawan0405, of him and his brigade having to put their needs aside to see to an emergency. In a brief yet impactful video, Ridzwan displayed how he and his firefighter brothers had to rush and attend to a crisis just minutes before iftar, the time to break fast.

As a display of just how close their call was to iftar, one of their fellow firefighters had to hold a large jug of soya cincau on his lap during the ride, as their captain drove to the spot where the calamity took place.

In a subsequent video shared by Ridzwan, the firefighter revealed that after handling their tasks at hand, him and his colleagues broke fast together at the side of the road. Drinking the soya cincau, many of them were all smiles, despite having rushed to settle the matter at hand.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ridzwan revealed that the team, who are part of the Kempas Fire & Rescue Station in Johor, received 2 emergency calls right as they were preparing to break fast.

With duty presiding, the men had to put the meal on hold to deal with those issues first.

“Our calls were to do with an oil spill and a road accident, respectively. As firefighters, it was our responsibility to get to both scenes immediately, and therefore, only break our fast at the side of the road,” said Ridzwan to WORLD OF BUZZ.

With hearts going out to the men in the comments section, many couldn’t help but feel sorry for the firefighters, as they had to rush to an emergency after spending the entire day fasting.

“Hmm, even to break fast, there isn’t any peace. Oh what it takes to fulfil your duty first, above anything else,” wrote one commenter.

On the other hand, multiple users also expressed some jests in the comments section to bring humour to the moment, telling the men to not use the soya cincau to wipe out any fires.

“The man holding the drinks must be a junior… if he spills it, everyone is done,” light-heartedly added another user.
