Let’s be honest. Deep down, we both know that prices of goods will continue to increase. No one knows when things will be cheap again. Probably in the distant future, or possibly never.

However, instead of whining, a Malaysian woman does what she can to shrink her grocery bill. In a viral TikTok post by @mommynad_deen, Nad shared what she does in adjusting her life to get the lowest grocery bill- shopping for materials and ingredients at the wholesale market. Guess what?

She saves A LOT!

“We save around 50% to 60%.”

It’s definitely good news to be able to save that much but here’s the catch. Nad has to visit the wholesale market at 3 in the morning when most of us are sound asleep. To Nad, it’s worth it.

“It’s tiring when I get enough sleep because I clean the house after coming back from the wholesale market. But it’s worth it.”

Nad also happily highlighted how cheap the vegetables are at the wholesale market, and said that with more than 5 different vegetables at hand, she spent less than RM20.

“Same goes to the seafood! A whole snapper fish costs me only RM40, and large sizes of prawn for just around RM20.”

In her video, Nad also showed her trolley full of vegetables, meat and seafood, to which she mostly bought in kilos, and is enough to sustain the family for 3 weeks. With THAT MUCH of seafood and vegetables, Nad spent only RM189.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Nad said she has stopped going to the supermarket for groceries, where she would spend around RM1,200 for groceries alone.

“I started going to the wholesale market in end of April. My last visit was around 2 weeks ago.”

Nad also told WORLD OF BUZZ that she is planning a gardening project which will start soon and by then, her grocery bills will be even lower.

She also thanked her husband for sending her to the wholesale in the wee hours.
