E-hailing rides are no doubt a convenient form of transport for those who don’t own their own car. However, it’s uncommon to pay extra for basic amenities such as air-conditioning during the ride.

Netizens were left fuming and are demanding action be taken against a Grab driver who allegedly charged exorbitant prices for customers to have their ride be a little cooler when it gets hot.

M’sian Grab driver allegedly charges up to RM30 for air-cond

In a photo shared to X (formerly Twitter) by MALAYSIA MOST VIRAL, it showed a sign hanging above the driver and two small portable fans being attached the sun visor on the front passenger’s side.

According to the sign, it listed out the different prices customers have to pay based on the air-cond’s fan speed:

  • RM20 for air-cond at Speed 1 (free for 6-seaters)
  • RM25 for air-cond at Speed 2
  • RM30 for air-cond at Speed 3

The sign then ends with customers being told that “basic air-cond” is provided if they were to sit on the front passenger seat, meaning that they would have to roast if they choose not to.

Netizens displeased

Needless to say, the price list didn’t sit well with netizens, who were enraged to see the driver demanding that customers pay extra just to use the air-cond.

‘If I were the customer, I’d make sure you (the driver) gets fired by Grab immediately.’

‘The problem is that he’s charging up to RM20. If it’s only RM2, then it’s still acceptable.’
