Chinese New Year reunion dinners and open houses are when family members come from far and wide to see each other again while indulging in food and drinks. With that being said, the food and drinks aspect of these celebrations can be a vital part in ensuring that the night goes merrily.
Though, sadly, a restaurant’s decision to cheat a customer through their small portions has caused a family’s dinner to turn sour.
Netizen, Yong Lim Chin took to the KL娱乐站 Facebook page to share how her family paid an insane amount for big portions to be delivered from a restaurant in Klang, so that they can feed their entire family of over 40 people, only for the food to arrive in tiny amounts.
She wrote, “Have you ever seen such cost-effective Kailan?”
In her post, she explained that her entire family had gathered at a cousin’s house where they were all waiting quite a while for the food to be delivered. Though, when it finally arrived, the portions were so small that it couldn’t feed everyone!
It turns out that her cousin chose to order from that particular restaurant as the food is good, and she even told the restaurant that they needed “large portions” to feed their entire family.
They ended up being charged RM1,196.75 for the entire meal but the portions clearly didn’t justify the price.
The main thing that she pointed out was that they paid RM85 for a Kailan dish and RM85 for a lotus root dish but the portions could only feed up to 4 people.
“How expensive is lotus root? Is it organic or imported from the United States? Or is the plastic box priced at RM50?”
She also explained that the prices and portions for the fish and meat dishes were “Okay”.
This was a huge let down for them especially considering how some of their family members came from overseas for the gathering.
“That night, some of our relatives came from Brunei, some came from Australia, more than 40 people. Looking at the food for 4 people, we lost weight on the spot, it was really healthy, thank you to the restaurant,” she sarcastically wrote, adding that she is sharing this incident to warn others of the restaurant’s choices to scam their customers.
We genuinely hope that Yong and her family had a good Chinese New Year despite the restaurant’s shady actions.
