A Malaysian man broke down in court after the Sessions Court handed him a 6-month jail sentence for making a death threat against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim half a year ago.
The sentenced was handed down upon 35-year-old Faizal Mohamad, who pleaded guilty when the charged was read out before Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini today, reported Sinar Harian.

According to the charge sheet, Faizal was accused of committing the offense via TikTok under the username ‘@jaiadani89’ at a condominium located at Jalan Tong Shin on Nov 26, 2023.
In the now-deleted TikTok clip, Faizal allegedly offered a RM5 million bounty to anyone who was willing to “shoot” Anwar and several other ministers.
The charges were framed under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and punishable under Section 233(3) of the same Act, where it carries a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment for a maximum of one year, or both.
He also faces a RM1,000 fine for each day the offense is continued after conviction.
Cries and pleads for leniency
During the proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurilya Ellyna Nor Azmal asked the court to mete out a deterrent sentence, saying that Faizal’s comments were inappropriate.
Faizal, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lighter sentence and said he had just started a new job and needed to support his wife, children, and ailing mother.
However, the court eventually sentenced him to 6 months in jail, causing him to burst into tears. He was also ordered to start serving his sentence today.
