A man was forced to take desperate measures in securing electricity supply for his family after more of a decade of living without it.
However, thanks to his boldness and perfect timing, he managed to catch the attention of the former Yang di-Pertua Agong (YDPA) himself and finally managed to get an electricity meter installed.
Waved at ex-Agong’s motorcade
In a TikTok video, it showed the man and his wife sitting by the roadside while holding onto a placard in Jerantut, Pahang.
When they saw several cars approaching from a distance and recognised it as the ex-Agong’s motorcade, they quickly leapt to their feet and waved at the vehicles while holding the placard.

When the motorcade finally came to a stop, the man placed the placard beside a plastic chair, grabbed a letter and rushed towards the former Agong, who was driving at the time.
He later took a photo with Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah along with the placard which read: ‘Ampun Tuanku, Mohon Berhenti Sekejap’ (Your Highness, please stop for a moment).

Had no electricity for 13 years
In the comment section, the man claimed that he and his family didn’t have electricity supply for 13 years.
He added that he had been trying to apply for it but it was always rejected for various reasons.
Thankfully, his pleas didn’t fall on deaf ears as his application was reportedly approved on the same day after meeting the ex-Agong and is now waiting for the electricity meter to be installed.

At the time of writing, the authorities have not responded to the incident, although NST has since reached out to Jerantut assemblyman Haris Salleh Hamzah to enquire why the man’s application was delayed for so long.
