If you ever have a pet cat or dog, it’s not unusual for them to sink their teeth into your skin either out of fun or fear. But how would you react if those bites left you RM17,000 poorer?
This was exactly happened to a man after his brother’s pet cat went feral and bit into his wrist, leaving deep puncture wounds and a staggering hospital bill.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share the unfortunate incident, a netizen named Ikhwan recounted the events that led to the hefty hospital bill.
In the tweet, he wrote that his brother was bitten by his British Shorthair cat, which he believes was triggered by the cat either not being familiar with or being handled improperly by his brother.
After getting bitten, Ikhwan’s brother was rushed to the hospital to be treated for his wounds. As seen from a photo accompanying the post, a total of five gaping bite marks were seen indented into his wrist.
Following the incident, Ikhwan wrote that he ‘grounded’ his pet cat by putting it inside its cage for several days. However, he said that he was puzzled to see his cat attacking his brother as the feline would behave itself around him and his parents.
He also added that while he was aware that “any bite or scratch from animals are dangerous”, he couldn’t help but be shocked to see a real-life example unfold before his eyes.
In a separate tweet, Ikhwan revealed the amount that the hospital billed his brother as a result of the bite marks, which totaled to a whopping RM16,858.75.

The tweet has since been viewed close to 6 million times at the time of writing, where netizens were shocked to see the wounds sustained by Ikhwan’s brother.

A woman also shared a photo of her hand ridden with deep scratch wounds, which was caused by her cat becoming aggressive after hearing the neighbour’s cat making noises nearby.
