Eating out can sometimes cost a fortune, but there are times where one can still be caught unaware by the prices.

A customer who dined at a food court at Pavilion Bukit Jalil recently took to social media to express his shock over being charged for a meal that, in his opinion, should have cost way lesser.

‘RM10.50 for this? Never again!’

In a post shared to the Facebook group Pavilion 2 Bukit Jalil 大小事 along with the caption ‘No more next time’, the man posted a photo of the meal he had, which consisted of white rice and a fried chicken drumstick.

Based on the receipt, he was charged RM2.50 for a single serving of rice, RM1.30 for an additional serving of rice, and RM5.70 for the fried chicken.

After another RM0.59 in service tax was added the bill, the total amount came to RM10.50.

However, this didn’t sit well with the man, who that he never asked for additional rice and that it was added by the staff without his knowledge.

“I can accept higher prices, but I can’t accept extra rice being added without me asking for it,” he added.

What netizens said

The post caused quite a buzz among netizens, where it garnered over 2,000 reactions and hundreds of comments at the time of writing.

One said that dining at the mall was already a “financial risk” in itself as tenants tend to charge higher prices in order to cover rental expenses.

Another placed the blame squarely on the man’s shoulders, saying that he could have avoided the situation if he asked for the price beforehand.

Meanwhile, some commented on the meal’s appearance, with one noting that some curry could’ve been added to make it more appealing.

In response, another netizen jested that the man probably didn’t ask for it as he might be charged for it.
