Mental illness is a psychological disorder that could potentially affect one’s behaviour. Due to it being a “taboo” subject, many people have chosen to suffer in silence instead of seeking help.
Just over the weekend, the police have received a case whereby a man was trapped in his own home at Setapak. According to China Press, when the man’s family member found out, they quickly called the police.
Unfortunately, the police were unable to break in as the entrance of the house was covered with cement. The man’s car was filled with cement and even his doors and locks were covered with cement.
The police then contacted the fire department where they came with tools to help break the cemented door. Due to the involvement of many parties, this incident has caused many people around the neighbourhood to crowd around and get a glimpse of what was happening.
The entire operation of trying to save the man took about 2 hours and at around 12:05am, the elderly man was saved by the firemen.
The man was then handed over to the police and after initial investigation, it appeared that the man has cemented himself in his house as he was under an enormous amount of stress.
But there were also speculations that he owed the loan sharks money and because he couldn’t return it, they cemented him in his own house. The man is currently in the hospital and has been ordered to receive psychiatric treatment.
