A 62-year-old retired salesman from Perak had the shock of his life after numbers inspired by his grandchildren’s birth certificates turned him into a millionaire overnight.
The lucky winner was one of two long-time Toto players who recently walked away with jackpot prizes worth more than RM15.3 million combined.
Won over RM11.8mil with just RM2
According to the statement from Sports Toto, the retiree won the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 prize on May 31, taking home RM11,806,469.85 from a total jackpot prize pool of more than RM12 million.
What made the win even more meaningful was that his winning number combination, “1660″ and “5093”, came from the birth certificate numbers of his two grandchildren.
The man, who had been betting for the past 30 years, said he usually spends between RM10 and RM20 on numbers for every draw.
Like many regular players, he never expected that his long-time habit would one day bring him a life-changing win.
My grandchildren have always brought so much joy and happiness to our family, but I never imagined that one day, they would change our lives in this way,” he said.
Too stunned to speak
The retiree said he was overwhelmed with emotion when he found out that he had won.
At first, he could hardly believe it and had to check the draw results several times to make sure he was not mistaken.
After confirming the win, he immediately shared the good news with his family.
When asked what he planned to do with the prize money, he said he would manage it carefully to ensure his family is taken care of, especially his grandchildren’s future.
Another winner from Kuala Lumpur also won the remaining RM195,148.20 through the i-System play method.
