Malaysian mum shocked to find large stash of banknotes in son’s schoolbag

Taking to her Instagram account, the mother, Jeannie Soo, shared how she found out about her son’s saving habits upon discovering his stash of saved-up pocket money.

She wrote, “My son’s little vault. (He gets) pocket money of RM15 per day. (He has) so much savings in a year and (has been) taking RM767 to school every day.”

In the video showcased, Jeannie could be seen going through her son’s schoolbag’s side pocket compartment, where she started pulling out bundles of RM1, RM5, RM10 and RM20 bank notes and a bunch of coins, which was an accumulation of her son’s pocket money over this year.

Jeannie later clarified, in another post, that she intends to put the money into an independent bank account for her son, which will subsequently teach her son how to plan his finances at a young age.

“At least he’s saving instead of spending!”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Jeannie shared her astonishment over her son’s savings and is glad with his choice to do so.

“Honestly, I was quite surprised! I didn’t expect him to have so much cash tucked away in his bag. He’s not the best at organising it yet—but hey, at least he’s saving instead of spending!”
