KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s natural rubber (NR) production increased by 21.2% month-on-month (m-o-m) in July 2022, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM).
Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR decreased by 21.8%, it said in a statement today.
“Production of NR in July 2022 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders’ sector with 88.5% as compared to estates sector with 11.5%,” it said.
Total stocks of NR decreased by 20.1% m-o-m to 224,591 tonnes in July with rubber processors factory contributing 91.8% of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (8.2%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia’s NR fell 8.4% m-o-m to 53,771 tonnes in July 2022, with China remaining the main destination accounting for 48.1% of the total shipment, followed by Germany (6.4%), the United States (4.2%), Finland (3.8%) and Pakistan (3.0%).
“Analysis of the average monthly prices showed that latex concentrated recorded a decrease of 15.9% (m-o-m) to 532.28 sen per kg in July 2022, while scrap rubber declined by 2.8% (m-o-m) to 566.13 sen per kg,” it added. – Bernama, September 14, 2022
