The phrase “let kids be kids” is definitely something we all live by as children. However, because of that, we often find ourselves in sticky situations.

In a recent video that’s been making the rounds online, an X user (formerly known as Twitter) shared footage that captures the moment multiple kids can be seen entering the back of a police lorry.

“Their parents reported them to the police”

According to the post, the parents of the kids allegedly called the police to report them for hanging out at night, which resulted in them being picked up in the back of a police lorry.

The caption of the post reads,

“All because they like to hang out at night, parents reported them to the police and had them picked up.”

To make matters worse, as the kids climbed into the back of the lorry, they were visibly surrounded by a crowd of onlookers from the neighbourhood.

Netizens found the situation amusing, with many even praising the parents for their firm approach.

“Parents must be tired of lecturing anyone who’s bitter about this. Sometimes, this is the only way to raise awareness. Look, they are all still young. Congratulations to the parents who don’t spoil their children. I hope these kids change after this message.”

“This police is doing a good thing. If they could do this in my area too, we would have called the police a long time ago to pick up the kids around here.”

“When I was growing up, we didn’t call the police if we were being naughty. Our parents would use a rattan stick, slippers, or a belt on us if we misbehaved. But nowadays, just one wrong touch and parents can end up in jail. Therefore, this method is so useful. I hope these kids will learn.”

“I fully support this. Please report those underage kids who ride motorcycles and make noise in front of houses just to show off. In reality, it’s the money for fuel that their parents give them.”

While some didn’t share the same sentiment…

“It’s less effective when your child is picked up together with all the friends. They’ll enjoy sharing stories about their experience riding in a police lorry.”

“If kids at that age are getting picked up, it’s the parents’ fault for not knowing how to control them in the first place. The parents should also be picked up.”

“Not knowing how to take care of his child and causing trouble for others. The police should be doing their actual work.”

“If they take a lot of people like this, it won’t be effective. They prefer it this way, if you don’t believe me, you can ask them yourself.”
