IN support of Palestinians, Malaysians have been boycotting brands and goods with alleged ties to Israel.
But just how far should one go with the boycott?
Recently, netizens slammed a Malaysian couple who switched their baby’s formula milk multiple times in an attempt to join the boycott movement. The mother sought recommendations for an alternative to her child’s formula milk on the Facebook group, Kelab Ibu Mengandung Malaysia.
The screenshot of the question was then reposted to the social media platform X has so far garnered over 141.3K views.
In the Facebook post, the mother first starts by asking if the other Malaysian mothers had experience with their babies pooping bloody stools. She then goes on to explain that she has a six-month-old baby and ever since they joined the boycott movement, they have changed the baby’s formula milk four times.
“We have met the doctor and were given saline water and an ointment to apply. We were advised to switch to a different formula milk.
“But I am bound by the ‘taklik’, and if I give my child formula milk that should be boycotted, it will lead to a divorce,“ she added.
Netizens were obviously outraged by her post and decision to place her baby at risk just to be part of the boycott movement.
“Every single year. Every single year, this boycott thing happens. As if it does anything substantial. In fact, the franchise holder in Malaysia has stated that they have nothing to do with the Middle East or America. This truly disgusts me,” commented a clearly frustrated netizen.
“I feel so bad for the baby. Do they think that the baby’s stomach is like an adult’s stomach, able to handle the change? The baby’s already suffering from bloody stools,” expressed another netizen.
