Durian season is back and so are the struggles that come with it.
A hilarious video of two Malaysian parents struggling to open a massive durian has gone viral on TikTok, leaving netizens thoroughly entertained.
In the now-viral clip shared by TikTok user @melovematchaaa, the couple can be seen going all out trying to crack open the stubborn fruit — with one parent pulling from one end and the other pulling from the opposite side like it’s a game of tug-of-war.
Despite their full efforts, the durian refused to budge easily, making the whole ordeal unintentionally comedic.
“Not their first time!”
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the daughter behind the viral TikTok revealed that her parents are actually seasoned durian lovers.
And nope, it’s not my parents’ first time opening durians! My dad especially looooves opening them — he always buys them and opens them himself”
She added that the durian featured in the video is a type called 竹脚 (pronounced as “Tekka” in English, although she wasn’t 100% sure).
That’s our fav type of durian hahaha. My dad said it was super hard to open because it’s really big, that’s why both of them were struggling so much haha!”
Despite the tough shell, their persistence (and love for durian) clearly paid off in the end.
Now that’s some durian dedication right there.
