Graduation ceremonies mark the end of an era for those who studied so hard to complete their courses, and walking across that stage to receive such an honour is just icing on the cake. However, one Malaysian girl had the opportunity to receive that prestige from a very special person in her life.

Malaysian professor and counsellor at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Professor Doctor Mohammad Aziz Shah recently shared a touching moment between him and his daughter on his TikTok page @profmas_positive. In the clip, Professor Aziz’s daughter, Nurin Nasuha, stepped on stage to receive her certificate from her father, who was invited to officiate the ceremony.

After walking across the stage and accepting the honour, Nurin proceeded to shake her father’s hands before giving him a hug. The heartwarming moment was captured by one of Nurin’s friends as other attendees at the ceremony joyfully took in the moment in real-time.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Professor Aziz revealed that the event was a graduation ceremony for students at Nurin’s secondary school following the SPM examination, though the affair itself was held at Hotel Scholar’s Suites, a hospitality training centre under UPSI.

Speaking on the moment, Professor Aziz stated that he was surprised by the spontaneous hug given to him by his daughter, but was thankful that it was caught on camera so that they may share these memories with those closest to them at some point in the future.

“I hope the video inspires all students, and parents, to give their kids psychological and emotional encouragement to succeed in the future,” said Professor Aziz to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Touched by the moment, many Malaysians stated how lucky Nurin was to experience this with her father. A few commenters also congratulated Professor Aziz on his daughter’s success.

“I’d be afraid that the students walking after her would want to salam and hug me because they’d think it’s part of the procedure to receive their scrolls,” jokingly added one user.
