A couple of wholesome and hilarious videos depicting a man rescuing a stranded monkey and giving it a ride across Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu has gone viral on social media recently, leaving Malaysians in stitches.

The videos were shared on TikTok by Amazon House Boat, a company offering houseboat rentals and tours in Tasik Kenyir and as of the time of writing, both of them have collectively garnered over 2.2 million views.

At the start of the 1st video, the monkey can be seen stranded in the middle of the lake while holding a rope given to it by the man on a small boat.

The man then told the monkey in a localised Terengganu dialect, likely from Kuala Berang, to hold the ropes and hilariously expressed his frustration after the primate suddenly let go of the rope.

The monkey then went under the boat and swam for a few metres before remaining stationery and floating about.

The man then piloted the boat to the monkey before it again went swimming under the watercraft.

The 2nd video continued right where the 1st video ended, showing the man grabbing the monkey’s tail and bringing it aboard the boat.

The man then told the monkey to sit at the front of the boat quietly and despite attempting to jump into the lake again, the primate followed the instruction and stayed still.

Afterwards, the man piloted the boat to a side of land with many natural foods for the primate.

As the boat landed, the monkey immediately took off, prompting the man to hilariously say,

“You didn’t even say thanks to me!”
