A recent social media post has gone viral after a man shared how his Perodua Myvi was hit by another vehicle while he was out shopping at a market in Kuala Terengganu.
Taking to Threads, Mubin (@mubinnnz) revealed that when he returned to his car, he found a note left on his windscreen by the other driver.
An unexpected apology and RM206
The note contained an apology from a student named Adira. She explained that the car was being driven by her grandmother at the time of the incident.
Along with the note was RM206; Adira explained it was all she could offer to help cover the repair costs for Mubin’s car.
“Sorry, sir/madam, earlier, my grandmother accidentally hit the right side of your rear bumper. I couldn’t wait as I had something to attend to. I’ve left some money here for the damages; sorry, it’s not much, this is all I have. If it’s not enough, you can WhatsApp this number, and I’ll try to make it up,” the note read.
Mubin admitted he didn’t notice the bumper was loose at first. However, after reading the note, he realised the bumper clip had snapped, and there were several fresh scratches.
“An uncle came up to me and said an elderly woman and her granddaughter in a Perodua Kelisa had hit my car. Since it was an elderly lady, I felt sympathetic because my father is also elderly, so I thought she might not have realised it. So, I contacted them,” he said.
He decided to return the money to the teen and her grandmother
Moved by their honesty, Mubin contacted Adira using the number provided and informed her that he would be returning the RM206 to her and her grandmother. After learning more about their personal circumstances, he decided to go a step further and give them some extra money.
“Her grandmother is about the same age as my father, in her 70s, and they live together on their own. Her parents passed away a long time ago, and she has no one else besides her grandmother. They live in a village house and only have that one car, so I felt sorry for them,” Mubin explained.
“I returned the money and even added a little extra, because what she gave was all she had. Sometimes we think we have it tough, but there are others going through much harder situations than us.”
A message of sincerity
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Mubin shared his advice, saying:
“Be kind to everyone, regardless of race or religion. If we’re sincere, God will reward our kindness, if not in this world, then surely in the hereafter. Every action we take will have its consequences.”
