Before computers, libraries used book borrowing cards to keep track of who borrowed what.

For this primary school student, she never would’ve guessed in a million years that the same book she borrowed had been in the hands of someone she’d least expected.

“My daughter borrowed the same exact book”

In a heartwarming post, Tan Kok Leong shared how, back in 1991 when he was just 9, he borrowed a specific Malay-language book from his school library.

Fast forward 34 years, he discovered that his young daughter, now attending the same school, had recently borrowed the exact same book.

“My 2 daughters are studying at my old school, and my second daughter coincidentally borrowed a Bahasa Malaysia book I had borrowed when I was in Standard 3,” he wrote.

Tan shared his amazement by posting a photo of the library loan slip stuck on the front cover of the book, showing his name and the date he originally borrowed it.

“What’s amazing is that, after 34 years, this book has somehow made its way back to me. It’s such an incredible connection, and I’m definitely going to read it again,” he said.
